OTHER INFORMATIONNHS DIRECTNHS Direct is a 24-hour nurse-led advice and information service which can be accessed by phoning 0845 4647 or visiting their website: www.nhsdirect.nhs.uk. PATIENTS GROUPA patients group was formed in March 2000 to act as a forum for the exchange of information between patients and the doctors. A committee of 15 patients meets with the doctors every quarter to discuss matters of mutual concern. The group has also been active in fundraising activities on behalf of the practice. FEESAll general medical, maternity, paediatric surveillance and minor surgery services are provided free of charge by the doctors in the practice to patients registered under the NHS. Whilst the majority of our patients receive their care from us through the NHS, we are prepared to accept patients on a private paying basis. CASUALTIESThe practice is fully prepared and equipped to deal with all minor injuries. The nearest hospital casualty departments are at Harrogate District Hospital and The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton. LOCUMSFrom time to time a doctor may be away on holiday or attending a medical course. During such leave the doctor's work may be done by a locum.
